Meet Tarynn Hatton-Jones

In the evolving landscape of global sourcing, sustainability, and hospitality design, Tarynn Hatton-Jones is a name synonymous with integrity, and transformative leadership. Based in Hong Kong, her home of more than 18 years, Tarynn is the CEO and Founder of Burnt Oringe International, a procurement agency specializing in FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) sourcing for some of the most distinctive hotel, retail, healthcare, and residential spaces worldwide. With over 16 years at the helm of Burnt Oringe Intl. and a journey that spans continents and careers, from South Africa to Botswana to Bangkok, Tarynn’s story is one of intention, adaptability and purpose. She also serves as the Chairwoman of The Women Entrepreneurs Network Hong Kong, where she champions women-led businesses and cross-border collaboration. Her business isn’t just about sourcing furniture. It’s about building beautiful, scalable environments while navigating sustainability mandates.
Where It All Began: From South Africa to Hong Kong
Tarynn’s story starts in South Africa during the last decade of apartheid; a time marked by division, complexity, and resilience. That era left a lasting impression on her values.
“Growing up in South Africa during one of the most tumultuous periods in our history shaped me in profound ways,” she shared.
Her path has spanned Botswana, Bangkok, and now more than 18 years in Hong Kong, where she studied interior design and kinesiology while raising a family and building her business. In the years leading up to entrepreneurship, she held roles in PR, marketing, administration, and legal compliance within banking. Each one adding a layer to her understanding of global commerce and communication. “Needless to say,” she once remarked, “I’m pretty versatile.” That versatility would become her greatest asset. Burnt Oringe International: A Company Born from Purpose

In 2008, as the financial crisis disrupted industries globally, Tarynn was working in Legal & Compliance at a Hong Kong bank. At the same time, her young daughter was suffering from respiratory issues. Searching for chemical-free, organic bedding in local markets, she found little. What was available was costly, hard to access, or shipped internationally with long delays. Motivated by necessity, she began sourcing organic materials herself, textiles free from formaldehyde and other toxins. The spark of entrepreneurship was ignited. In 2009, she launched Burnt Oringe International, Hong Kong’s first organic bedding brand. The name paid tribute to the deep, radiant sunsets of her African childhood, a symbol of warmth, vibrancy, and a grounding sense of home.
She opened her first showroom in Wong Chuk Hang and later expanded to Lyndhurst Terrace in Central. Discover more here.
“We’re not just sourcing furniture, we’re solving problems others don’t even see yet.”
Initially focused on sustainable home goods such as organic linens, towels, robes, and slippers, the company soon caught the attention of boutique hotels and private clients looking for more. What started as a home textiles brand grew into an FF&E procurement firm built on purpose, trust, and quality. Headquartered in Hong Kong, Burnt Oringe International is plugged directly into Asia’s manufacturing ecosystem. From Vietnam and India to Indonesia and China, Tarynn and her team work on the ground by visiting factories, reviewing samples, and managing full procurement pipelines with precision.
Signature Projects with Global Impact
Tarynn and her team now manage projects across continents, time zones, and design languages. In Singapore, Burnt Oringe International curated handcrafted furnishings for a private cigar lounge. In France, her team outfitted a villa with custom-built, European-inspired pieces. In Portugal, a boutique hotel lobby was brought to life with woven feature elements and regionally sourced materials. And in Malaysia, they delivered outdoor furnishings to a sustainable eco-resort.

Each project is a blend of creativity and precision, balancing aesthetics, cultural nuance, and functional durability. From tropical climates to historic interiors, Burnt Oringe Intl. adapts to every challenge with a commitment to detail, quality, and thoughtful sourcing. Explore more here.
“Our job is way more than just finding the right stuff.”
Leading with Precision: The Burnt Oringe Intl. Advantage
At Burnt Oringe International, precision isn’t just a promise; it’s a process. Tarynn’s team bridges the gap between Asia’s deep manufacturing capabilities and the stringent quality expectations of global design firms. Their mission: to turn ambitious design concepts into beautifully executed, commercially sound realities. What sets them apart is their hands-on, end-to-end involvement. Tarynn and her team walk factory floors, test prototypes, negotiate directly with manufacturers, and manage both scheduled and unannounced inspections. Every supplier is vetted not only for technical ability but also for ethical labor standards, financial stability, and transparency.
“Having a trusted sourcing partner on the ground in Asia representing your best interests is a highly effective route to boost project revenue while freeing you to deliver a superior service for your clients.”
Their network spans China, Vietnam, India, and Indonesia, regions where cultural fluency, consistency, and supplier relationships matter as much as specifications. This boots-on-the-ground presence ensures that projects move with speed, accuracy, and accountability.
A Voice for Women in Business

In June 2025, Tarynn was appointed Chairwoman of The Women Entrepreneurs Network Hong Kong, a 40-year-old institution supporting women-led businesses. Her vision focuses on creating more meaningful connections, personalized growth programs, and a renewed sense of purpose within the membership. “Looking ahead, the next two years promise a wealth of opportunities for growth, connection, and inspiration,” she shared. “My focus is on engaging with our members, enhancing your experience, and fostering a supportive community where we can all thrive together.”
She’s also active on the global stage. At the Hong Kong–New Zealand Business Association panel in Auckland, she explored how Hong Kong serves as a super-connector for cross-border investment in the Greater Bay Area. She is a featured voice at Epic Angels, a women-led investor community, and she contributes as an Advisor to the Global ESG Leadership Organization, a UK-based nonprofit aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Shaping the Future of Sustainable Design
Tarynn’s future-forward approach to sourcing includes a deep commitment to environmental responsibility. Burnt Oringe International’s factory partners are increasingly aligned with international certifications like FSC and PEFC and embrace innovations such as plantation-grown timber, recycled textiles, non-toxic dyes, and renewable energy use. The company’s operations are rooted in sustainability and excellence, recognized by the Luxury Lifestyle Award 2023 as Hong Kong’s leading procurement firm. For Tarynn, sustainability is not a sales point, it’s a standard.
“We source furniture that meets the highest quality standards… and layer over another level of checks to give our clients peace of mind,” she explains. From sustainable linens to durable restaurant seating, every product tells a story of conscious creation. Discover more here.
