Her research, conducted across 20 classrooms and 88 preschoolers in 2007, culminated in the publication of her acclaimed book, Embracing Calmness: The MLE Program Through Midline Exercises. In this book, Dr. Dustow explores how midline exercises—movements that stimulate both the left and right hemispheres of the brain—can dramatically improve focus and behavior in children with autism. The program has since been adopted globally, helping countless educators and parents improve the lives of children in their care.

Founding Cornerstone Educational Preschool
In 2007, Dr. Dustow founded the Cornerstone Educational Preschool in Lanai City, Hawaii, with a singular vision: to create a safe and nurturing environment where children with autism could learn and grow. The preschool, built around Dr. Dustow’s research-based curriculum, offers virtual classes to preschool-aged children. From a fully equipped classroom in Lanai City, the school’s virtual model allows children from around the world to benefit from her innovative approach.

Dr. Dustow’s innovative spirit doesn’t stop in the classroom. In 2018, she developed the H.A.P.P.Y. DRJ Apple App, an interactive tool designed to bring her midline exercise program to a global audience. The app, which features animated social stories tailored for children with autism, offers five simple exercises that help calm the mind and improve focus.
