Who or what inspires you?

Co-Founder & Chief Client Officer at Proxxy

Entrepreneurs. Their desire, drive and determination is like rocket fuel for me. I am moved by the consistent belief that a solution is imminent with just a bit more time, effort and/or belief.

-David Brooks in his new book, “The Second Mountain” speaks of those who see their second mountain as the opportunity to serve humankind in something much more meaningful than a paycheck or some award.
-Professor Clayton Christensen from the Harvard Business School recently died but he left a great legacy especially in a marvelous book her wrote, “How Will You Measure Your Life.” Which like Brooks challenges the readers to examine what is truly most important in life and to pursue that with deep intention and conviction. I am also deeply fascinated by how one’s character is developed and how the importance of that character in one’s life journey.

Dr. Christine Malone

In 1999, my third child, Ian, was injured due to medical negligence during his birth. Ian lived four years before succumbing to his injuries in 2004. This was the genesis of my work toward improving patient safety in healthcare. It was my experience with my son that motivated me to go back to college, earn several college degrees, write textbooks, and work on risk managment and patient safety education.

Actually, I have been inspired by the fans of Alchemi Sun Hats. People that have battled skin cancer, beat it, and continue to enjoy the outdoors. Athletes, some in their 50s, who continue to strive for seemingly impossible goals like running 100 mile races. You can’t help but admire these people.

I’m originally from a small town called Litchfield in Southern New Hampshire. My family and I are really close and some of my favorite memories are of our day trips to amusement parks and baseball games and the two summer road trips we took to Disney World. I basically grew up as a tomboy in the 80’s, so I remember riding bikes and exploring the woods with neighbors after school and on weekends. I was the only girl, and the youngest of the group, but I was brave and rarely showed any signs of weakness. It earned me respect but wasn’t always the most sensible strategy. Once I rode my bike down our slide, convinced that the boys had done so first; only to have my father later explain that none of them had actually done it! That day I learned that you can’t believe everything people say, and you don’t have to be so quick to prove your worth to others.

National Sales Manager at TRAK Machine Tools

Michael McGarry

I am self-motivated. I am competitive. Winning inspires me. My wife inspires me. She is passionate about teaching and has compassion for her students. She is a perfectionist that drives her to be prepared. She has empathy. She is simply a great role model. Famous people? I am a huge Ronald Reagan fan, simply because of his ability to communicate. I loved Jack Nicklaus in the day for his preparation to be golf’s greatest champion while keeping his family first. I admire the charisma of Arnold Palmer. It is OK to be great and humble. Kenny Stabler – “Keep it close and give me a chance to win the game.” That is ownership.
